Guest Post: Ty introduces Ribs

Thanks for hosting me on your blog today. I’m so excited about the release of my new book, and I’ve got a special treat for you! I’ve brought the handsome, resourceful, and incredibly hot hero of IF YOU ONLY KNEW, a Trust No One novel. (~pushes a reluctant and slightly embarrassed blond hunk forward~)

Uh…Good morning, ladies! And…let’s not forget the occasional male of the species who bravely stumbles onto these hallowed pages…uh…just like me! (~crooked grin~) Tyler Whitlock—at your service.

Dixie Lee asked me to drop by and visit for a couple of minutes about the story behind our new book. There should really be a blooper tape like a few of those movies and TV shows have, because some of the material that never makes it onto the page is downright hilarious. Of course, some of it is sad as can be, too.

Take the dog, for example. That Dixie Lee almost always writes a dog into her stories. Rayna named him Ribs.

Oh, I almost forgot. (~blushes and grins~) Rayna Dugan is the love of my life…and my best friend. And a sexier, sweeter, more exciting woman simply doesn’t exist.

Anyway, I bet you can guess why she called the dog Ribs. Yep—that was all you could see of the poor guy when we found him. I’d say he was about a week from starvation, if that.

Some folks would probably say it was just as well if he did starve to death, but those snakes hadn’t better raise their voices loud enough for Rayna to hear. I shudder to think of the fracas that would ensue—and my Rayna definitely knows how to handle herself in a fight.

You see…Ribs is a pit bull. He probably weighed about eighty pounds when we found him, even as skinny as he was. Now, he’s stout, muscled, and built like a four-legged tank, broad across the chest with a short, thick neck, and pointy ears.

It was his big brown eyes that convinced Rayna, though. They were gentle as a doe and intelligent, and he must have seen something he trusted in Rayna’s eyes, too. She knelt down in front of him, and he walked right up to her and leaned his big, flat head against her chest.

The rest of the team and I were pretty leery at first. You hear stories about the so-called bully breeds, and you have to be careful—but being careful and holding the whole breed to blame for the actions of a few irresponsible dog owners are two different things in my mind.

Ribs had scars all over his body. It was obvious he’d been in more than a few fights and easy to assume the cruel nature of the activity. It’s unimaginable, the misery and abuse someone inflicted on that dog—on purpose. Still, he thought enough of humans to stand up for Rayna when she got in harm’s way the very next day and ended up saving her life.

He’s got it good now, though. Two squares, a bed in the house, and all the love and affection he can finagle. I think Rayna wants to single-handedly make up for the mistreatment that came his way through no fault of his own.

For his part, he’s devoted to her, and that’s good enough for me. You see…he doesn’t know he was born under the banner of a bully breed. He’s just a dog. He gets hungry, lonely, cold, and he feels pain. There’s a good chance he even gets sad. I know for a fact he gets happy—every time Rayna comes home.

Uh oh. Dixie Lee is giving me the signal to wrap it up. Guess we’re out of time. I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to come and ramble on about IF YOU ONLY KNEW. Do yourselves a favor. Take some time to read something today—anything. You’ll discover a whole new world!

Review:

So where has this author been hiding out? There are so many authors out there that it kind of gets overwhelming when you have to choose which book you want to read. This is one happy girl because I found a great one! Now I just need to play catch up and read the first two for me to be fully satisfied. :)

Alrighty folks, we have two love birds who can't get enough of each other. Unfortunately, Rayna's brother was killed and that led her to this compound of her brother's closest comrades. She wants revenge on the people who killed him. That's great. Girl's a badass. I'm assuming that revenge was taken already in another book because it doesn't happen here but I'm cool with that because we got to focus on Ty and Rayna and their obvious love for one another. Anyway, so Rayna decides that she needs to move on with her life and go to college like her brother always wanted for her. In order to make a clean break with Ty, she says some kind of mean things to get him to back off but he knows she's lying but there is nothing he won't do for her. *swoon* Guys, take note of that. She's in college for about six weeks when her life decides to become one big, ole crazy city. That poor girl was put through the ringer in this novel but she came out on the other side, slightly beaten, but not defeated. Definitely take a strong woman to go through all that and still think positively. But she has Ty there to help her along the way.

And everything's better with Ty. I mean, who wouldn't want that sexy man meat coming to your rescue? That was her own, personal knight in shining armor. Now I do want to point out that she wasn't a helpless little wallflower either. Rayna beat a couple big guys up, so I say again, girl's a badass. But Ty is one of the key players in shutting down the danger. I'm surprised he didn't have a mental breakdown with everything that happened with Rayna. But he is strong on the inside and the outside which we say to the very end. Can I get my own personal Ty to watch over me?

The story was really great. The pace kept moving appropriately so there weren't dull spots where I'm kind of skimming through paragraphs until something interesting happens. The secondary characters were beyond awesome. I am crossing my fingers that Nate gets his own book. I fell in love with him during this read too. He's just so yummy! What goes along best with yumminess? Action. I am a lover of romantic suspense and this definitely had it's fair share which I loved! And as I said before, I'm going to have to read the first two because those guys seem dreamy. :)
