Sweeping passions, family drama, and searing scandal play out at the magnificent Silver Creek Ranch as the heirs to a powerful dynasty seize their legacy of love.

Oldest son Ward Knowles feels the sprawling California ranch in his blood. And now that the family business has expanded to include a popular resort, he’s working harder than ever. Silver Creek is his legacy and his life, which is fine for the ruggedly sexy ladies’ man and committed bachelor. Love and trust don’t come easily for Ward since he lost his heart to a gold digger—until he meets a shy, unpretentious beauty whose sweet grace is about to turn his jaded heart into a hungry one.

Tess Casari has found sanctuary at Silver Creek, working as an assistant to Ward’s mother, Adele. Grateful for her busy new life running the ranch’s spa and resort, Tess can escape the heartbreak, humiliation, and secret shame of her failed marriage. The last thing she needs is temptation—especially from a man who reminds her so much of the husband who shattered her faith in love. But passion and destiny are about to change the rules for two people who have stopped believing in the healing power of love.

My Thoughts:

You know what I love most about book blogging, well, besides getting to read all I want? I find some really great authors. Laura drew me in with the western type theme and kept me hooked through her excellent writing and storyline. And it's a western type story. I love those!

Tess dumps everything in her old life (after her marriage crumbles) and moves to a completely new area where she knows no one. That in and of itself is a brave thing to do. Upon arriving at the town that was picked at random from a map, seriously, she is on a mission to get a job lined up so Tess can stay. Well, being a small town and a crappy economy, there are no jobs to come by but she is directed to check out the ranch just outside of town. Soon after arriving on the property, she sees this sexy work hand running towards her car which decides at that point to take the drive to the car cemetery in the sky and is convinced that this man is the one who broke it. Ok so I know girls don't generally know about cars but for someone so smart, shouldn't she know that what she is accusing him of was complete crap? Honestly, this was really the only thing that bothered me about the book. May be just because I have a general knowledge of cars. But I will say it was pretty entertaining throughout the book when she would call him a car killer. Lol. As it turns out though, the sexy car killer is the owners' son. Whoops. Still doesn't mean he isn't a car killer. ;)

Jilted by a gold digging wench, Ward has thrown himself into the ranch. He doesn't have time for women. Especially not the quiet woman his mother hired as his assistant. But then he finds himself constantly seeking her out to ruffle her feathers. When his best friends want to get married on the ranch in a short amount of time, Ward and Tess are forced to work together and that's when we see the sparks really start to fly! I am glad that at this point, we start to see Ward open up some more. It sucks to be hurt so much by someone that you make assumptions about a person that isn't true from a past experience. But that to me proves that he is a really good person with a good heart.

I can honestly say that I will be on the lookout for more Laura Moore novels. Love me a good contemporary/western romance! They melt my heart. :)

  1. That really sounds like a cute one. I've really been enjoying westerns the last couple months and I love when the hero ruffles the heroines feathers. So entertaining. ::snort:: car killer. I love that! Thanks for the heads up!! I'll have to add this to the shopping list :)
