In Caldwell, New York, war rages between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Now the cold heart of a cunning predator will be warmed against its will...

Ruthless and brilliant, Vishous, son of the Bloodletter, possesses a destructive curse and a frightening ability to see the future. As a pretrans growing up in his father's war camp he was tormented and abused. As a member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotion, only the battle with the Lessening Society. But when a mortal injury puts him in the care of human surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb compels him to reveal his inner pain and taste true pleasure for the first time-until a destiny he didn't choose takes him into a future that cannot include her.

David Gandy. The perfect Vishous. *sigh*
I was beyond ready to read V's book. We got bits and pieces of him from the previous books and got an in depth look into his tortured soul in Butch's book. His soul is so beaten it's a wonder he is even a good person anymore. Basically a genius, for all that he knows, he doesn't know how to express his feelings so he bottles them up. The only person who has been able to break through his emotional wall at all has been Butch. V wouldn't classify himself as gay but there is something about Butch that just draws him to the human. Lately it has become harder for him to deal with his emotions towards his fellow Sox fan. On top of Butch now becoming the prophecy of the Dehstroyer, he has found his very own shellan and is extremely happy but Vishous can't help but feel saddened like he is alone in the world.

When it is revealed to him that his mother is the Scribe Virgin, he goes into a downward emotional spiral that leads him to become injured on the job. Since he was lights out to the world, a human stumbled upon him and called for an ambulance and was taken to a mortal hospital. Enter Dr. Jane Whitcomb. Thinking he is a run of the mill patient that needs her help, she goes about her business of fixing him when she discovers he has a six chambered heart. That was not normal. One thing leads to another and Jane finds herself providing private care to the stunningly handsome patient in his home. She tries unsuccessfully to get away but is deterred by one of her kidnappers who looks crazy familiar to her. She swears she has seen him on more than one occasion in the hospital. She just can't put her finger on it.
My version of Jane.
After Vishous wakes up, he is entranced with the human female who is taken to caring for him during his recovery. It takes him a whole twenty-four hours to fall in love with her completely. V has never in his life felt this way towards another. Not even with Butch. He gets the inexplicable urge to purge his feelings towards Jane. He is able to open himself up but not all the way. (He will get to that point in another book.) That doesn't matter to Jane for she is also a very independent person who also doesn't know exactly how to rely on another. Eventually, Jane is allowed to go home and upon seeing V off, she is shot and dies in V's arms. In a desperate attempt to get Jane back, Vishous goes to see his mother, the Scribe Virgin in a bid to get Jane back.

V's story had a different feel to it. It had less fighting with lessers and had more love story/emotional journey to it but you know what? That works for me. My heart was constantly breaking throughout the whole story for both Vishous and Jane but then you get a happy ending I didn't see coming and it made my day. I have my favorite brothers in this series but V takes the cake. He is my numero uno sexy Black Dagger Brother that I want for my own. And who wouldn't when the sex was off the charts hawt and the person I picture in my mind when I think of V is David Gandy! I am going to say this again and again. Don't wait forever like me to read this series. You will be kicking yourself in the ass if you do! :p

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this story!!!!
